Paying for our roads

Motor vehicles, whether running on oil or electricity, have a computer which will record the distance the vehicle has travelled each year.

The vehicle will have a fee per kilometre based on the size of the vehicle.

The product of distance travelled and fee per kilometre will be paid to the Government.

Fuel tax will be discontinued.

Tampering with the computer to affect the record of distance travelled will result in a substantial penalty.

Would the Government hurry up and change the system so we don’t have to read the rubbish being put on the internet about the rise of electric vehicles resulting in less income from vehicles for them.
